-Adam Levine in “My Life”
I was watching Lecrae’s latest video, “Mayday,” which premiered on MTV2 recently. After “Mayday” – “My Life” by 50 Cent came on. I was struck by how real and honest the song was– and how sad it was. I know at times in my life, I definitely felt everything Adam Levine sings.
I can’t say that I can relate to everything 50 & Eminem are rapping about. However, I think Eminem killed it in this song. I’ve always really liked Eminem- like I totally respect his passion and I appreciate that he’s so raw. Both 50 & Eminem have had some tough things happen in their life- I’m not going to pretend to know what exactly all those things are. In the song Eminem goes on to say…
I swear to God I put my heart and soul into this more than anybody knows
I’m trapped, so all I do is rap, but everytime I rap I’m more trapped
And I rap myself right into this bubble, uh oh, I guess it’s bubble wrap
This is like a vicious cycle, my life’s in a crisis
Christ, how was I supposed to know shit would turn up like it did?
Feels like I’m going psycho again and I might just blow my lid
I almost wish that I would have never made Recovery, kid
Cause I’m running in circles with… My life…
I wish the songs were featured in reverse order on MTV2 or that after “My Life,” “Mayday” always played. I just want anyone who’s feeling lost and overwhelmed and hopeless to know-
Help is just one prayer away
Don’t be afraid to say,
“Mayday.”
