The Sin of Neutrality

“…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…”

-Joshua 24:15

No one ever made an impact by remaining neutral-

and you know what?

As hard as we might try…we can’t.

We’re all agreeing with someone, accepting the status quo means

you’re following someone.

Who are you following?

Who am I following?

“Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it…” -Matthew 7:13-14

When I was younger, I seriously considered politics as a career. Then I realized many go in with good intentions and then become corrupt.

Then I swung the other way- I’ve thought for a while now, “Politics don’t really effect me.”

-because I felt like I couldn’t really affect them. Isn’t that sad?

Like hold up for a second.

If that’s true- that I couldn’t change anything in government, as a citizen- that’s messed up right?

Like please have more policies in place to deter me from standing up for

applaud me when I agree with the status quo.

When I make a valiant speech about how “I’ll never take away a woman’s right to choose!”

I’ll forget about the fact that you already did.

Have you ever seen an ultrasound?

At just 10 weeks old a baby has fingers and toes. A heartbeat.

But I digress.

I’m causing too much stress- just relax.

Take in both points of view- I mean there’s actually more than 2.

There’s about 7 billion.

Just take your time, go through them all-

everyone has to decide their own idea of truth.

Stop trying to act like there’s an

You’re going to cause a war. Live the American Dream- chase success- I mean not morally- monetarily- it’s all just a means to the next…

not life…

This is it. Live it up. YOLO.

If a rapper said it, it must be true.

No, stop thinking about church and stuff- who cares if Jesus died for you?

That was like 2,000 years ago- please…Don’t act like that’s relevant.

Hope in Change.

but keep hoping, keep smoking, keep drinking, keep sleeping, keep partying, keep dreaming

and when you wake up

It will all be the same.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” -John 3:16-21

Just wanted to share my heart behind this post. It’s not meant to condemn, but rather to challenge. We are to speak the truth in love. I’m still learning how to do that. But I also know that not speaking the truth at all is not loving. So I’m praying that God’s grace would cover my words, that you would give me grace for not doing it perfectly. Often when God speaks through me, He is speaking to me- and I really think this post is more for me than for anyone else. I’ve been asleep for a long time now- just floating along being more concerned with not offending anyone than defending the truth. The truth is: God is love. He loves us so much that He doesn’t allow us to stay the same. I want to take more responsibility for the condition of our world. I want to be a part of making a difference which brings more glory to Christ. I don’t deserve to know Him, but He loves me still.
