“The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over. ” -Psalm 12:6
Something about this verse today just really resonated with me. It makes me breath a sigh of relief and inhale refreshment.
Google defines pure as “free of any contamination.”
How rare to find people who speak words free of any contamination. I’m not even sure humans are capable of speaking completely pure words, but our hearts can seek to be faithful to God and He will help us.
In contrast to the Lord’s pure words are those people who speak “words without use or worth or truth; with flattering lips and double heart [deceitfully]…” – Psalm 12:2
I don’t want to speak without use or worth or truth or with flattering lips or a deceitful heart. I want to be speaking pure words, positive statements, full of faith in God and not full of self-pity.
Psalm 12:7 says, “You will keep them [His words] and preserve them, O Lord; You will guard and keep us from this [evil] generation forever.” How calming to know that God will preserve and keep His word and will protect us. Thank you Lord.
How does knowing that God will protect you and always keep His word impact how you live today?
