Choose today

Although the recent ruling in New York legalizing abortion until birth is heartbreaking to me, the one thing I am thankful for is that a giant spotlight has been put on us… each one of us.

All the debate has caused me to re-examine my beliefs… or rather more importantly, God’s beliefs.

Time to make a choice.

Not just about abortion, but about life. Your life. My life.

It is way too easy to passively ride down the stream of life going with the flow. Although it may seem easier, it is certainly more dangerous. You are not in control of where you are going or where you are taking those that are riding with you.

14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” -Joshua 24:14-15

You could also think of it this way – choose today who you will follow. Who are you going to listen to? Based on what will you make your decisions?

And the time is now. Choose today – not in 5 years, not tomorrow. Today. This is urgent.

God said to Jeremiah:

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

How amazing is that? Before God formed Jeremiah in his mother’s womb… He already knew him. And that’s true of you. And of others.

A person is a person, no matter how small, as Dr. Seuss said.

God loves you and all of His kids, His adults, His babies so much that He wants them to live… not just on earth, but in Heaven forever.

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

And He doesn’t want us to live on earth miserably with guilt, shame, fear, hurt… He wants us to live free. If you want to know more about what that looks like, here are some stories of others who have asked: Will I ever be free?

But for now, know that you are important to God. And what God says is important.

Major emphasis on what God says… because it is way too easy to listen to the voices of others – even others who quote the Bible (like I am doing…). Read God’s Word for yourself: https://www.biblegateway.com/

10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” -Philippians 2:10
